Musical Crossroads brings Nā Hōkū Hanohano Award winner Johnny Valentine together with the singers of the Honolulu Chamber Choir to showcase musical classics through generations. The evening will span the decades, featuring the doo wop of the 1950’s and ’60’s, the classic rock of the 1970’s and ‘80’s, selections from some of Disney’s biggest musical hits, and today’s contemporary tunes. Johnny’s powerhouse rock band combined with the vocals of O`ahu’s only semi-professional choir promises a concert like nothing you have experienced before.
Johnny Valentine is Hawai`i’s most sought after musician and entertainer. He has brought his impressive vocal range and incredible guitar style to the stages of Bruno Mars, Arnel Pineda (Journey), Regina Belle, Martin Nievera, Henry Kapono and Kalapana, to name just a few. A Hawaii Music Award winner and Nā Hōkū Hanohano Award winner for Hawai’i’s Favorite Entertainer of the Year, Johnny has spent his life focused on making people happy through the power of music of the highest quality.
One of Hawaii’s hardest working musicians, Johnny is constantly sharing his talent across the state at a variety of venues including the Beach Bar at the iconic Moana Surfrider, Hard Rock Café, the Royal Kona Resort and more. See Johnny’s calendar for a current schedule.
The Oahu Choral Society (OCS) has a 25-year history of bringing music of the highest artistic excellence to the people of Hawaii. OCS is committed to providing our island community with robust programming for all music, with repertoire that spans the decades. OCS presents choral/orchestral masterworks from Beethoven to Bernstein, major chamber ensemble works, along with new commissions, including contemporary and local composers like Michael Foumai and Herb Mahelona.
Created in 1995, OCS functioned under the umbrella of the Honolulu Symphony Orchestra until 2009. Our members include approximately 75 singers from all walks of life, including young adults to seniors, united by their talent and love for classical music and choral singing. Today, we perform major choral works with the Hawai`i Symphony Orchestra (HSO), as well as smaller works with chamber ensembles, accompanists and a cappella. OCS features it’s Honolulu Chamber Choir, local and international artists as soloists, and frequently joins with other arts organizations in the community to continuously deliver choral music for the Hawai`i Ohana.
