Hawaii’s favorite Latin music band is back! Eddie Ortiz & Son Caribe return to the Blue Note for one night only.
The Son Caribe Band has toured internationally with frequent performances in Japan, Korea and the Philippines.
Local accolades include a featured one-hour performance on K5 TV's popular summer music series “Heineken's Hot Hawaiian Nights!” The band was voted amongst one of Hawaii's top bands in Honolulu Magazine's music issue, and has recorded music for TV and radio commercials for 88 Tee’s and the University of Hawaii.
Son Caribe's CD "Salsa From Hawaii II" topped the best seller charts in Hawaii and received GRAMMY© Award consideration for 2004 Best Salsa/Merengue Album.
Son Caribe has opened for GRAMMY® Award-winning Latin music luminaries Celia Cruz and Poncho Sanchez, and has shared the stage with artists Luisito Rosario, Johnny Polanco, Chino Espinoza, Tito Puente Jr., Frankie Morales, Yoko Mimata, Jimmy Bosch, Mark Gonzalez and Herman Olivera.
Along with Latin music, Son Caribe also performs numerous other music genres including big band jazz, Motown, rock & roll, pop, and contemporary Top 40.
