Johnny Helm and his band celebrate the release of his latest single "Hat on my Head" with a special guest performance by John Cruz + opener Yoza.
Modern Folk Rock/ Americana artist, Johnny Helm, is no stranger in the music scene in Hawaii, but with the recent inclusion of his song “Ride” in the closing credits of the motion picture “The Ride”, he hopes to use this moment at a platform to reach a broader, worldwide audience with his music. As well as having his recent single included in a motion picture, he has been working hard behind the scenes at Orange Pear Productions and Studio, his current workspace, where he has scored multiple independent film projects for NMG (Nella Media Group), one of which won a regional Emmy.
In 2008, Johnny met and began writing with Jed Leiber. Leiber is the founder/owner of the famed Nightbird Recording Studios in Los Angeles, California. He is the son of legendary songwriter Jerry Leiber (of the writing team Leiber and Stoller). Johnny and Jed have written and recorded 12 songs for an ongoing project and continue to write.
Johnny began tracking his EP Banyan Tree at his home studio in 2011. He released the EP in October of 2012. It was Nominated for the "EP" of the year at Hawaii's Na Hoku Hanohano awards.
Johnny released his record, For You, in 2017 and his latest release, Lainey and the 93, in 2019 which was also nominated for a Na Hoku Hanohano award in the Alternative Album of the Year category.
