This 2021 special edition is in partnership with the Henry Kapono Foundation and dedicated to helping get Hawai`i’s musicians back to work and on stage to do what they love most...perform. May 13th features the beloved “Father of Jawaiian Music,” Brother Noland.

ABOUT HENRY KAPONO'S ARTIST 2 ARTIST SERIES
The launch of this new format will continue to feature multiple award-winning and GRAMMY® nominee, Henry Kapono, who will introduce a new opening segment that will spotlight many of Hawai`i’s diverse and talented musical entertainers, followed by some of Hawai`i’s most iconic musicians. Henry will “jam” and “talk story” one-on-one with each artist, “deconstructing” their career (as only one artist to another can do) to give the audience insight to the spirit and aspirations of the person/people behind the music.

ABOUT THE ARTISTS
BROTHER NOLAND
Brother Noland has deeply influenced contemporary Hawaiian music and is widely considered as the “Father of Jawaiian Music.” Fluid in both Slack Key and standard guitar tunings, Brother Noland goes wherever the music carries him. “As far back as I can remember,” Noland says, “I was always surrounded by the beautiful sounds of Hawaiian music.” Brother Noland is popular for his unique interpretations (or “Nolandization”) of songs yet remains respectful of traditional Hawaiian music and culture.

Born and raised in Kalihi-Palama on the island of O’ahu, Brother Noland is most famous for his original song “Coconut Girl,” which birthed the “Jawaiian” contemporary style (fusion of Hawaiian & Reggae) music.

LUCIE LYNCH
Lucie Lynch is a Honolulu singer-songwriter, focused on indie pop and modern folk music. Growing in scope and depth with each new release, her style has been compared to that of Joni Mitchell, Ben Harper, and Joan Baez. She studied theatre and musical in Germany at the Schauspiel studio in Hamburg, and wrote, produced and performed the one-woman musical, “Gabrielle's Universe” for several years throughout Germany before living out of her backpack as a “travelpoet” around the world. Lucie Lynch has performed with the band, Lucie & The Perfect Wave, whose debut EP record appeared 2018 to critical and fan acclaim, she co-authored the award-winning musical about love, money & self-worth, "Money Talks: But What the Hell is it Saying?" and her album “Yes I Can” was released worldwide on January 2, 2021.
